Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive wellness practice designed to support deep relaxation, reduce stress, and create a greater sense of balance and well-being. During a treatment, you remain fully clothed while the practitioner uses light touch or places their hands just above the body in a calm, comfortable setting. We offer Reiki as a complementary service because it provides clients with a quiet opportunity to slow down, release tension, and support their overall physical and emotional wellness alongside other treatments.

Registered Massage Therapist
I've been practicing in the healing arts since 2001. I began my journey as a Registered Massage Therapist. With further training in eastern modalities such as acupressure and Thai massage. I saw clearly that the quality of my massage was directly ties to presence. In 2004 I travelled to Thailand to study traditional Thai massage which expanded my understanding of the body-mind connection and the role of mindfulness in healing. I practiced Thai massage for eight years, and while I no longer offer it in its traditional form its principle continues to shape the way I treat today. Over the past 25 years I've supported clients with a wide range of concerns including motor vehicle accident recovery, pre and post-natal care, sports and overuse injuries, arthritis, and postural imbalances. Most treatments blend therapeutic and relaxation techniques, acupressure, deep tissue work, trigger point therapy, Gua Sha and Thai informed approaches always tailored to your individual needs and comfort. Since 2020 I've also offered reiki as a gentle complementary modality to help restore balance and well-being. Teaching yoga, breath-work (pranayama) and meditation for more than a decade has further enriched my practice especially in supporting the nervous system through breath and presence. My daily practice of meditation and pranayama has been truly life changing and I feel grateful to share as a practical path back to clarity, ease, and embodied presence. Being does not need to be achieved -- it needs to be remembered.

Registered Massage Therapist
My health and wellness career started at Purity Health & Wellness. I started as an office coordinator and grew very attached to the environment, it is my home away from home. This influenced me to take my Holistical Yoga Teacher Training and later pointed me in the direction of Touch for Health, Reflexology, Reiki and then Massage therapy. I am a certified World Fusion Foot Reflexologist, this course was constructed to contain elements of reflexology from around the globe, places such as Europe, Egypt, Thai land, China and more. Bringing together many different techniques. I am passionate about reflexology and how it affects ones overall well-being. I have earned my first, second, and third degree reiki certifications, and continue to have a daily reiki practice, working towards my Reiki Master fourth degree teaching certification. Although I have an ever growing interest in the energy healing arts. I received my Massage Therapy diploma July 2022, and I'm passionate about massage therapy, I was the top student in my class, achieving honours. I can do orthopedic massage, relaxation, deep tissue, sports massage, pediatric massage, pregnancy massage, lava shell, silicone cupping and I have my certification for K- taping. I have had the luxury to hone in on techniques that benefit clients with autoimmune diseases, connective tissue disorders and fibromyalgia, that decreasing the chances of flare ups. When I am not treating clients, I am a Mom and when I get the time I love to cook, bake, garden, meditate, do yoga, hike, camp and ultimately try to spend as much time as I can in nature.

Reiki in South Edmonton
Reiki is a gentle complementary wellness practice that originated in Japan and is commonly used for relaxation, stillness and a quiet sense of reset.
During a Reiki session, you typically remain fully clothed while the practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above different areas of the body.
At Purity Health & Wellness in South Edmonton, Reiki is offered as a calming, non-invasive wellness experience for people who want time to rest, slow down and step away from everyday stimulation.
What Happens During a Reiki Session?
A Reiki session usually begins with a brief conversation about what you are looking for from the appointment.
You then rest comfortably on a treatment table while the practitioner moves through a series of hand positions.
Depending on the practitioner’s approach, their hands may:
Rest lightly on the body
Hover just above the body
Move between different areas during the session
There is no massage, joint manipulation or needling involved.
Many sessions are quiet and require very little participation from the client.
What Does Reiki Feel Like?
Everyone experiences Reiki differently.
Some people simply feel relaxed and still.
Others may notice sensations such as warmth, heaviness, lightness or tingling, while some people do not notice any specific physical sensation at all.
There is no “correct” way to experience Reiki.
For many people, the most immediate value is simply having uninterrupted time to rest in a calm environment.
Why Do People Book Reiki?
People commonly choose Reiki because they want:
Deep relaxation
Quiet time away from daily stimulation
A meditative wellness experience
A gentle, non-invasive treatment
Time to slow down
A greater sense of calm
A wellness service that does not involve massage or physical manipulation
Reiki is best considered a complementary wellness practice rather than a replacement for medical or mental-health care.
Do I Need to Believe in Reiki?
No particular belief system is required to participate in a Reiki session.
You can approach the experience spiritually if that is meaningful to you, or simply treat it as an opportunity for quiet, relaxation and stillness.
There is no requirement to adopt a particular philosophy or belief.
Do I Stay Fully Clothed During Reiki?
Yes.
Reiki is normally performed while you remain fully clothed.
Comfortable clothing is usually best so you can relax easily during the session.
Is Reiki a Hands-On Treatment?
It can involve very light touch, but Reiki does not involve the manipulation of muscles or joints.
Some practitioners place their hands gently on selected areas, while others hold their hands just above the body.
If you prefer not to be touched, you can discuss that with your practitioner before the session begins.
Reiki for Stress and Relaxation
Many people choose Reiki because they want dedicated time to slow down.
Modern life can involve constant stimulation from work, phones, schedules and responsibilities.
A Reiki appointment creates a quiet period where you can simply rest without needing to perform, exercise or talk through a problem.
Some people find this makes Reiki a useful addition to their broader self-care or relaxation routine.
Reiki as a Meditative Wellness Practice
Reiki can also appeal to people who already enjoy meditation, yoga, breathwork or other contemplative practices.
Because a session is generally quiet and still, it can create a similar opportunity to notice the body, breath and present moment.
You do not need meditation experience to receive Reiki.
Reiki vs Massage Therapy
Reiki and massage therapy are very different experiences.
Massage therapy uses hands-on techniques to work directly with muscles and soft tissues.
Reiki uses light touch or hands positioned just above the body and does not involve muscular manipulation.
Someone looking for physical soft-tissue treatment may prefer massage.
Someone looking primarily for stillness and a gentle, non-invasive wellness experience may prefer Reiki.
Reiki vs Reflexology
Reiki and reflexology are both commonly chosen for relaxation, but the treatments are different.
Reflexology uses focused pressure on specific areas of the feet.
Reiki generally involves light touch or hands positioned above different areas of the body.
Both allow you to remain clothed and may appeal to people who want a quieter wellness experience.
Reiki vs Counselling
Reiki and counselling serve very different purposes.
Counselling involves conversation with a trained mental-health professional and can help people work through stress, anxiety, relationships, grief and other emotional concerns.
Reiki is a complementary wellness practice focused more on relaxation and stillness.
Reiki should not be used as a replacement for counselling or other appropriate mental-health care.
Can Reiki Be Combined With Other Treatments?
Yes.
Some people choose Reiki alongside other health and wellness services.
For example, a client may use:
Massage therapy for muscular tension
Physiotherapy for rehabilitation
Counselling for emotional support
Reiki for relaxation and stillness
The services do not need to address the same goal.
For many people, Reiki simply occupies a different place within their overall wellness routine.
